As spring arrives, we’re all eager to shed those winter layers and finally embrace the light and stylish outfits we’ve been sacredly hanging in our wardrobes. Unfortunately, in Lithuania, spring and winter are like two best friends who just can’t seem to part ways: they LOVE to catch up a few times a week and keep us on our toes. But does this mean we must hide our spring wardrobes and stick to bulky winter jackets? Absolutely not!
Here are my 10 expert secrets on how to stay chic no matter the weather:
1. Thermal base
I said it a million times, and I will say it again: the foundation of a stylish spring wardrobe starts with a thermal layer. This is how you can wear just a T-shirt and blazer and stay warm. Wear it under your favorite dress or shirt, jeans, and skirts, so this layer acts as an invisible, warm shield while letting you wear your lighter clothes comfortably.
Opt for a sleek and fitted versions to keep you warm without adding bulk. A few pairs of long sleeves and leggings will be the best investment in your wardrobe.

2. Natural knitwear
Natural fabrics such as merino wool, cashmere, and alpaca are your best friends. Mainly because these fabrics are breathable, temperature regulating, and more durable, meaning you will stay warm and your garments will live longer. Trust me, one good cashmere knit will replace 5 of those 10% wool and 90% of “something else” jumpers. This is likely the answer as to why your chunky sweater doesn’t keep you warm.
Go for a sleek, fitted version to keep you warm without a chunky look. A few pairs of long sleeves and leggings will be a worthy investment in your wardrobe.

3. Layers, layers, layers
Layering is the key to making your look classy yet warm. This is a great way to incorporate colors and textures into your outfit, especially if you are a fan of “difficult” looks. As a bonus, you can take off layers as the weather warms up without losing your fashion edge.

4. Leather coat
Since Lithuania’s weather often surprises us with wind and rain, I can’t think of a better outerwear option than a leather or faux leather coat. It’s both practical and stylish. The material is naturally wind-resistant and waterproof, helping you stay dry and comfortable. Beyond functionality, leather coats exude a timeless, sophisticated style, adding an edge to any outfit.
5. Over-the-shoulders jumper
Draping a jumper over your shoulders is a timeless technique that combines practicality and elegance. It effortlessly adds a layer of warmth, ready to be worn when the temperature drops, eliminating the need for multiple scarves in your wardrobe. This is an effortless way to bring a sense of relaxed sophistication to your look while offering a smart solution for unexpected spring weather. That’s probably my favourite style tip!
6. Accessories
I believe that transitional season is the perfect time to level up your accessory game. With the right touches, you can truly elevate your look and make it complete — without compromising on warmth. Try to make a monochromatic look by matching your gloves and scarf to the rest of the outfit, or the opposite; make them a statement. Never overlook the power of the right accessories.
7. Socks + flats
Wearing socks with flats might sound unconventional, but it’s a stylish and good option to stay warm while adding an interesting twist to your look. The key is to choose the right kind of shoes and socks.
On days when I want to create a feminine look, I like to choose a pair of pointy, soft leather flats and wear them with matching merino wool socks. They’re perfect for wearing with tailored, full-length trousers or a midi skirt. It’s also fun to play with different colors and textures, and there’s so much room for imagination.
8. Shoe insoles
If you’re someone whose feet are always cold, here’s a little hack for you: try thermo insoles. They’re affordable, slim, and incredibly effective at keeping your feet warm, even in the thinnest shoes. I personally love adding them to my boots and loafers, and they never let me down.

9. Boots
If you are still not ready to jump into your ballerina flats but are tired of constantly wearing sneakers, meet your new friends — boots. I’m a massive sucker for boots, especially during this season, as they are perfect to wear during rain but light enough for sunny days. Look for an ankle or mid-calf set that is sturdy but not too heavy, providing a balance of comfort and style.
And let’s be honest; we want to be able to walk in them for a whole day without thinking about what a bad idea it was to wear boots. So my advice to you is to go for a kitten heel under 6 centimeters, and your feet will be grateful. Also, they really mix and match with pretty much everything.
10. A quality umbrella
Spring showers bring more than just rain — they bring the chance to make a statement with your umbrella. While functional, it can either amp up your outfit or ruin it. Choose a style that complements your look, adding a pop of colour or sleekness without overwhelming the rest of your fit. And remember, style often lies in details.
